Apart from Binz and Sellin there are several
other seaside resorts on the island of Ruegen, some of which are
presented in the following paragraphs:
|

|
Breege-Juliusruh is located in the island´s north-eastern area
between the Baltic Sea and a large lagoon. The small holiday
resort consists of two villages forming one municipality. Whereas
Breege and its lovely harbour and thatched houses lie on the
lagoon, the village of Juliusruh is built along the broad and
long sandy beach of the
Baltic Sea. The number of inhabitants of both villages is about
1000. |

Glowe is another former fishing village which has
successfully turned into a seaside resort. It is situated at the
southern end of a narrow strip of land called Schaabe connecting
two of Ruegen´s large peninsulas. Like Juliusruh, the village is built along the
sandy beach. A stone´s throw away from Glowe
you can also visit one of the most beautiful castles of Western
Pomerania: the mighty and red painted castle of Spyker. |

Like the other seaside resorts, which are presented in this very
page, Baabe also has about 1000 inhabitants. In past times it was
a small fishing village first mentioned in a medieval document,
too. However, there is one obvious difference: Its well-kept
villagescape looks more modern than those of the others. You can
find the small seaside resort of Baabe and its sandy beach on
Ruegen´s southeastern coastline. |

Goehren is situated on a narrow promontory of land a few
kilometres south of the neighbouring seaside resort of Baabe.
Holidaymakers can enjoy a sandy beach, a long promenade pier and a
lot of beautiful ancient holiday homes, many of whose façades are
tastefully and magnificently decorated. These houses were built in
the late 19th and early 20th century, when the former fishing
village of Goehren started to turn into a flourishing seaside
resort. |
